A native of central Oregon, I know and love the beauty that surrounds us. I've been in the photography business officially since 1991, and "dabbled" long before that. To transition from hobby-picture-snapper to professional photographer, I completed photography training from the New York Institute of Photography. Working for that magic shot is what makes me happy and making my clients happy is my goal.

Like myself, Marlise grew up in Prineville. I've stayed in Oregon all my life, though, while she had various adventures in many other states. She came back to 'her roots' and we've been married since 2007. Marlise is my assistant, advisor, PR person, scheduler, back-up shooter, and baby whisperer. She likes to explain our working relationship this way: "Tom can tell you where the sun will be at any given time of day and get the lighting exactly right. I, on the other hand, have no idea which way west is, but I'm good at knowing if your hair or hands or wedding veil need tweaking." So we make a great team, striving together to produce beautiful images and helping you have a fun and memorable photo session with Studio Jay.
